Introduction

NLE Connect Indonesia is a groundbreaking collaboration project between the Ministry of Finance, ASDEKI, and Lacak.io development team. It addresses the prevalent issue of substantial logistics losses due to inefficiencies in transaction systems and queuing at Indonesian Depots.

"Through the National Logistic Ecosystem (NLE), the burden on businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to decrease. This is because logistics costs are predicted to decrease by more than 6 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)."

To optimize efficiency and clarity for depot personnel, we prioritized a streamlined design approach for NLE Connect. The app's central focus is on "Gate In" and "Gate Out" processes, with these menu features prominently displayed for immediate access.

Design for technologically challenged personnel

Implementing clear instructions and visual cues to prevent errors during input, prioritizing accessibility by catering to users with varying levels of technical competence through simple interactions and a readable interface.

Initially, we hypothesized that users favored minimalist and modern visuals based on user behavior in Indonesia, but testing revealed depot personnel's preference for more conventional, less modern designs. Therefore, we opted for Android's default visuals with little adjustment for easier adaptation and operation.

Beyond the NLE Connect mobile app, this project encompassed the design and development of multiple interconnected digital platforms to streamline logistics reporting and monitoring across Indonesia.

Impact

Finally after many rounds of reviews, iterations, and close collaboration with key stakeholders, the NLE Connect project delivered essential enhancements to Indonesia's logistics infrastructure. The NLE Connect has simplified and digitized the gate-in and gate-out processes at Indonesian depots. This translates to reduced manual paperwork, less potential for errors, and time savings for personnel. The following is a projection of savings made nationally per year.
